Singapore Street

I have just came back from Singapore. Shopping!

Bliss, eh. It would be if it was the real Singapore. It was just Singapore Street though. Heh.

Singapore Street is a swirl of archaic-looking shophouses in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. Archaic they may be, but the goods there are sold at extremely cheap prices. Stop drooling if you are thinking of apparels, footwear's, or accessories as 'extremely cheap prices' mainly refer to stuffs for your kitchen.

I was actually there with my mother, stocking for the reception. How I look forward to the days when the villagers and the relatives would come to my parents' place for merewang, during which they help the host in the kitchen. Among common tasks are to peel and slice the raw ingredients, clean the utensils, and prepare pulut kuning as well as sambal ikan bilis petai for those who lend their hands. The house would be more exuberant with their merry voices and jovial laughters! A regular at such event in Kampung Berkat, Mak The Zizah, once remarked, "Eh, dah abih yo motong bawang ni? Tak soda see do. Leko dek boghak ngan kotawo yo!"

According to my mother, there is more shopping to be done in Singapore Street.
